Below is the message Barbara Peters sent to the Women's Studies List
announcing the founding of a new list for academics from working class
and poverty class backgrounds.
At that time, the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh did not have a listserv.
Participants sent their messages to Barbara Peters and she then
forwarded them to the other members...on a 256 computer. It took a lot
of time and memory, therefore only 25 people could be members. Once
the university implemented a listserv, we went "public."

Hi,
After our discussion about class and the responses from some of the
working-class academics around the list, some of us are exploring the
idea of starting a SMALL discussion list to offer support to one another.
If you are interested in such a list, please send your e-mail address to
me PRIVATELY PLEASE.... I don't know if we will get such a list up and
running, but let's see if there is interest... Thanks,
Peace,
Barbara
